Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, Trichomoniasis, Gardnerella, Mycoplasma, Ureaplasma, HIV (I, II, P24 antigen), Syphilis, Hepatitis B, Herpes Simplex Virus I & II (HSV I & II)
Chlamydia is a common STI that affects both males and females and generally shows no symptoms. If left untreated, it can result in serious health complications and can easily be spread to partners, so it’s important to take action for peace of mind.
Gonorrhoea can cause infections in the genitals, rectum and throat. It is especially common among young adults. Some men, and most women, experience no symptoms so early detection is essential. This test can detect genital gonorrhoea.
Trichomoniasis is the most common curable STI. Only 30% of people with this infection develop symptoms, so regular testing is important. If left untreated, the infection can last for months or even years.
Gardnerella vaginalis can lead to symptoms such as unusual vaginal discharge and odor. This is called bacterial vaginosis (BV) and may increase your risk of getting other types of STIs.
Most people who have mycoplasma have no symptoms. If symptoms occur, they can include, abnormal vaginal or penile discharge, pain during sex or pain when urinating.
Ureaplasma can be found in up to 70% of sexually active adults. In many of these cases, it causes no problems. However, an overgrowth of the bacteria may cause uncomfortable symptoms requiring treatment.
HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) is a blood-borne virus that can be passed on through unprotected anal or vaginal sex and sharing HIV contaminated needles. HIV attacks immune cells and can develop into AIDS in the later stages.
Any person can get syphilis through vaginal, anal, or oral sex. If left undiagnosed and untreated, syphilis can eventually cause damage to the brain, nerves, eyes, heart, blood vessels, liver, bones, and joints.
Hepatitis B is a blood-borne virus caused by the hepatitis B virus (HBV). Hepatitis can be an acute or chronic illness, if left untreated, the virus can cause serious liver damage such as cirrhosis (scarring of the liver), liver failure and liver cancer. If the infection becomes chronic, lasting over six months, it can be fatal.
Herpes is a sexually transmitted infection caused by the herpes simplex virus (HSV). HSV-I has been associated with oral herpes (cold sores), whereas HSV-II has been associated with genital herpes. This urine test identifies if you have an active herpes infection. After the initial infection, HSV can become dormant (inactive) in certain nerve cells of the body. A further blood test (which can be purchased separately) is required to identify those who carry the dormant virus.
80% of sexually transmitted infections are asymptomatic (do not display any symptoms), however, if symptoms do occur, they are likely to present themselves within two weeks of infection.
STIs can take a period of time to become detectable. You should wait at least 4 weeks from the time of potential exposure to infection before taking this test.
Please note that syphilis and hepatitis B can take 12 weeks to become detectable. If you are concerned about these infections, you should wait at least 12 weeks from the time of potential exposure before taking this test.
The sample must be collected before 10am on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday and returned on the same day.
For your urine sample please make sure to collect the initial stream of urine in the morning before cleansing the genital area and do not urinate at least 1 hour prior to collection.
If you are concerned about possible exposure to one of these infections you should refrain from sexual activity until you receive a test result. For some infections, retesting after treatment for a positive result may be required.
This herpes test is not an antibody test and will only identify an active outbreak in the genital area. This test will not show if you have been exposed to herpes in the past or if you have an infection elsewhere.
Decent very thankful as nhs sti test not comprehensive
Very efficient. Would definitely recommend it for anyone looking for reassurance.
The service this company provides, in my opinion, is better than some doctors I have been to. No exaggeration.
Easy to use, and quick to ring me with results and a chat about my concerns. Would recommend to anyone!
There were no special clinics near me that dealt in checking for STDs/HIV. Without this accessible and affordable method, it would have been a lot harder for me to get checked.
So so easy! Wish I'd done it sooner just for peace of mind! Was cheaper than going to the doctor for a test and better still you don't have to have a conversation about your sex life!
I felt pretty selfish for having never been tested solely because I was scared. The speedy delivery + return + processing didn't keep me on the edge of my seat for longer than a week.
I'm STD-free, and it’s the best feeling to be able to know that.
Discreet, simple, and saves so much time and trouble. Not to mention no moderately embarrassing conversations with your doc, if you're someone who is as shy as I am about sexual history conversations!
Everything was good and a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders. Thank you, LetsGetChecked, for this wonderful service. My anxiety about getting tested and the “what if” fear that I had is gone.
This was a very discreet and straight forward way to get a test done and to get quick, professional results. They couldn't have been more helpful.
Discreet packaging for tests that could be embarrassing. Once my results were back I got an email and text 10/10 would take another test.
