The Progesterone-Ovulation test monitors ovulation on Day 21 of your cycle. By examining progesterone in the blood, the test can decipher whether you are ovulating normally.
Progesterone imbalances may be caused by:
- Ovulation issues
- Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS)
This Progesterone-Ovulation sample must be collected 7 days before an expected period. This will depend on your cycle. If you have a 28 day period, you take the test on day 21 to confirm that ovulation has occurred.
The sample must be collected before 10am on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday and returned on the same day. It may be necessary to wait until day 21 of your cycle falls on one of these days.
Results may be affected if you have an irregular menstrual cycle or if you have been taking hormonal contraceptives within the last three months.
It is important that you are not using hormonal contraception when taking this test as the results may not be accurate.
This test may not be suitable if you have an irregular menstrual cycle or if you have been taking hormonal contraceptives within the last three months.
Progesterone stimulates the thickening of the uterine lining. It helps to prepare the uterus for the implantation of a fertilized egg. Progesterone is checked on Day 21 of the menstrual cycle to confirm that ovulation has occurred.
